About Our Disability Support Worker Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Disability Support Worker. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities.

Your daily routine will be varied and dependent on the person you are supporting. You may assist them in taking a client out for a day at the beach or to a movie, or support them to attend medical appointments and keep them company at home with a cup of tea.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality support to clients with a disability, promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Assist with daily living activities and community access, ensuring that each individual receives the care they need.
  • Support clients to attend appointments and participate in activities, fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging.
  • Document observations and communicate effectively with the team, maintaining accurate records and providing updates as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe and respectful environment for clients, upholding the highest standards of care and compassion.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Certificate III in Disability or above, or equivalent experience, demonstrating your knowledge and skills in supporting individuals with disabilities.
  • An International police check (if applicable) or current police check (must be within 6 months from the date of application), ensuring your suitability to work with vulnerable populations.
  • A Current Working with Children Check, verifying your commitment to safeguarding the well-being of children and adults alike.
  • First aid/CPR certificates (current), evidencing your ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • A Full and clean Australian driver's license, enabling you to transport clients safely and efficiently.
  • Punctual, reliable, and flexible, with a strong work ethic and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, allowing you to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Empathetic and proactive, with a genuine interest in working in this field and making a positive difference in the lives of others.
  • The ability to self-supervise and remain calm and composed during crises, showcasing your maturity and professionalism.
  • The right to live and work in Australia, fulfilling the essential requirements for this role.
