About the Role

Grand Pacific Health is seeking an experienced Senior Peer Worker to join our team at the Medicare Mental Health Centre, Young. As a Senior Peer Worker, you will provide open, appropriate, and effective support to individuals accessing or considering connection to Head to Health services.

You will use your own life experience of mental health and personal recovery to support consumers, while also serving as a role model and mentor to the peer worker team. Your key responsibilities will include participating in goal setting activities with consumers, promoting self-pride and daily schedules, identifying opportunities for consumers to learn and build self-esteem, and providing encouragement and support to access necessary resources.

You will work collaboratively with the Medicare Mental Health Young team and external services to maximize care outcomes for consumers. This is a permanent full-time position, with part-time hours considered. As a full-time employee, you will enjoy a rostered day off each month.

Key Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Peer Worker role
  • Direct lived experience of life-changing mental health challenges and/or mental health service use, as well as periods of healing and personal recovery
  • Commitment to safely and purposely sharing lived experience to engender hope and support others on their personal recovery journey
