Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Merrylands High School. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality educational programs for students with a wide range of individual learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver high-quality educational programs for students with special needs
  • Develop Personalised Learning Plans for students with a wide range of individual learning needs
  • Work collaboratively with the school community to improve student outcomes and deliver the goals of the school's Strategic Improvement Plan
  • Support academic growth, including numeracy and literacy targets, for students in support classes
  • Build relationships with students, parents/carers, staff and outside agencies to meet the learning and wellbeing needs, goals and interests of students with a disability
Requirements:
  • Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism, emotional disturbance, mild intellectual disabilities and moderate intellectual disabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver high-quality educational programs for students with special needs
  • Proven commitment and enthusiasm for ongoing professional growth and ability to work as part of a collaborative team
  • Capacity to support academic growth, including numeracy and literacy targets, for students in support classes
  • Strength in interpersonal skills and building relationships to work effectively with students, parents/carers, staff and outside agencies
Working Conditions:
