About the Role

The Deputy Crown Solicitor (Public Law Branch) is a key member of the Strategic Leadership Team. As a Senior Administrative Law Expert, you will lead and direct lawyers, paralegals, and support staff across a highly regarded administrative law and employment law team. You will provide strategic, expert legal advice on complex and sensitive employment law, administrative law, and related litigation matters.

You will also contribute to Crown Law's annual business plan, build and develop client relationships with Crown Law's clients, proactively identify and manage current and emerging legal issues, and lead, develop, and maintain an existing high-performance and continuous improvement culture that promotes the full potential of each team member.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct lawyers, paralegals, and support staff across a highly regarded administrative law and employment law team.
  • Provide strategic, expert legal advice on complex and sensitive employment law, administrative law, and related litigation matters.
  • Contribute to Crown Law's annual business plan.
  • Build and develop client relationships with Crown Law's clients.
  • Proactively identify and manage current and emerging legal issues.
  • Lead, develop, and maintain an existing high-performance and continuous improvement culture that promotes the full potential of each team member.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • 15+ years' PAE relevant legal experience.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership of a high-performance legal team with a collaborative leadership style.
  • An optimistic outlook fostering a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.
  • The confidence, gravitas, and experience to advise and work closely with senior executives, including Ministers, Director-Generals, and the Attorney General, on complex legal matters.
  • Ideally experience advising government clients or working in the government, providing you with a demonstrated understanding of the public sector.
  • An engaging, customer-centric, solutions-focused approach with key stakeholders, fostering effective relationships.
  • A passion for innovation and continuous improvement of legal service delivery.
