We are seeking a skilled Mosquito Colony Specialist to join our team. As a Mosquito Colony Specialist, you will be responsible for the rearing of mosquito colonies in a biosecurity containment setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct Duties Relating to Rearing of Mosquito Colonies
- Hatch and rear large quantities of mosquitoes in a biosecurity containment setting.
- Maintain the health and well-being of the mosquito colonies.
- Support Team with Preparation of Materials and Solutions
- Prepare materials and solutions necessary for mosquito rearing.
- Assist the team with preparation of equipment and supplies.
- Assist QA/QC of Mosquito Colonies and Related Equipment
- Monitor and maintain quality assurance and control procedures for mosquito colonies and related equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Biosecurity and Internal laboratory policies and procedures.
- Maintain Workspace and Ensure Safety
- Set up, attend to, and clean equipment.
- Order and replenish supplies.
- Safely dispose of hazardous materials.
- Collect and Analyze Data
- Undertake data collection and record results.
- Analyze and evaluate data to inform decision-making.
- Provide Feedback and Implement Continuous Improvement
- Provide feedback on project, research, or technical procedures.
- Implement continuous improvement activities to enhance processes and outcomes.
- Comply with Standard Operating Procedures and Biosecurity Requirements
- Comply with standard operating procedures, Biosecurity requirements, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Identify and escalate Biosecurity and OHS risks where appropriate.
- Maintain Open Communication Channels
- Maintain open and effective channels of communication with the manufacturing team, other internal collaborating teams, and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Relevant Field
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biology, environmental science, or a related field.
- Experience in Mosquito Colony Management
- At least 2 years of experience in mosquito colony management.
- Strong Knowledge of Biosecurity and OHS
- Strong knowledge of Biosecurity and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) principles and practices.
