Job Title: Receivable Collection Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Receivable Collection Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to contribute to the success of our organization by providing expert accounts receivable services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow up overdue invoices for allocated customer accounts, ensuring timely payment and minimizing bad debts.
  • Process receipt of customer payments in accounting systems, maintaining accurate records and reconciliations.
  • Provide ageing reports (debtors spreadsheets) of overdue payments to management on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
  • Resolve debtor queries and payment discrepancies in a prompt and professional manner, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, including operations and customer service divisions, regarding non-payments and customer discrepancies, promoting effective communication and resolution.
  • Reconcile customer accounts, identifying and correcting any errors or discrepancies.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams and departments to achieve organizational goals and objectives, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders, including head office and banks, representing the organization with professionalism and integrity.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or Accounting, or equivalent experience and skills.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in accounts receivable, with a proven track record of success in collection and reconciliation.
  • Exposure to shipping operations is desirable, as is experience with SAP systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and strong analytical skills are essential for this role.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
  • Able to work towards deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively, managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic work setting.
