Metal Fabricator

About this role:

We are seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator to join our team. As a key member of our foundry, you will be responsible for general store keeping and assisting with the manufacturing of metal products. You will report directly to the Foundry Supervisor.

Our foundry is divided into four sections: Pattern Shop/Stores, Before Cast, Melt/Pour, and After Cast. Training is provided across each area to enable you to become competent in all four areas. We work collaboratively within our foundry's sections and with our Production Support Team to ensure daily operations run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure work is conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company values.
• Plan the best approach to daily output of product.
• Manufacture moulds according to the work schedule.
• Pour moulds at the correct temperature.
• Clear moulds from the pouring floor in a timely manner.
• Knockout sand moulds safely and productively.
• Deliver priority castings to the fettling shop as requested by supervisors.
• Fettle castings promptly to meet customer delivery dates.
• Inspect castings for defects and quarantine when necessary.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and workshop machines for basic operations.
• Participate in manual handling tasks.
• Pack and dispatch castings according to the work schedule.
• Operate load shifting equipment.
• Maintain equipment in good condition and report any issues to your Supervisor.
• Contribute to process improvements and suggest ideas at toolbox meetings to enhance quality and safety.
• Treat plant and equipment with care.

Requirements:

• Strong work ethic.
• Excellent safety record.
• Desirable qualifications include Forklift Licence and Literacy/Numeracy skills.
