About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Officer to join our team at Transport Canberra and City Services. As a key member of our Domestic Animal Services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and welfare of dogs and cats in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct basic treatment, de-sexing, vaccination, and assessment of dogs and cats held at our facility
  • Deal with dangerous and aggressive dogs on a daily basis to ensure their welfare needs are met
  • Support the enforcement of the Domestic Animal Act 2000 and Animal Welfare Act 1992
  • Lead the ACT Government's community de-sexing program for unowned cats and other associated partnerships
  • Work closely with foster and rescue groups to promote animal welfare

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent
  • Registration with the ACT Veterinary Surgeons Board or ability to obtain registration prior to commencement
