Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the Category Management roadmap aligned with the Procurement Vision and strategic objectives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and agility within Category Management to assess value delivered and adjust priorities in line with the organization's strategic goals.
- Coordinate and prioritize resources and knowledge assets across all facets of category management to maximize value and ensure alignment with our functional objectives.
- Identify and eliminate barriers, establish direction, and serve as a point of escalation for issues related to key practice areas.
- Refine category strategy and supplier management frameworks to guide the category team towards ongoing improvement and sustainable value creation.
- Enhance frameworks to boost value delivery, ESG outcomes, and a more engaged supplier ecosystem.
- Build relationships with category teams, sponsors, and supplier-facing business units to enhance supplier relationship management and facilitate a community of practice.
- Encourage the use of category tools, subscriptions, and resources to support effective business partnerships and provide real-time insights to category managers.
- Collaborate with category leadership to ensure consistent messaging and engagement with strategic suppliers, embedding segmentation frameworks and supplier account plans into category strategies.
- Monitor category management performance through value tracking dashboards, focusing on cost and broader strategic value.
- Lead the strategic annual planning cycle for category management, ensuring alignment around baselines and integrating key delivery roadmaps across supplier relationship management, ESG, and category teams.
Qualifications and Skills:
To excel in this role, candidates should ideally possess:
- Extensive experience in a leading consulting firm, technology start-up, or a similar industry (e.g., technology/digital strategy, innovation procurement, or strategic partnerships).
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience in the end-to-end supply chain and procurement lifecycle, including category strategy, market activities, negotiation, execution, and performance management.
- Experience in transformation strategy and execution, with the ability to influence the change agenda for category management at various organizational levels.
- Empathetic leadership skills to guide strategic change within the procurement organization.
- Exceptional communication abilities, utilizing tools and methodologies to address complex and ambiguous challenges.
- Thought leadership capabilities to inspire internal teams and suppliers with the latest market trends and insights.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to craft compelling, data-driven narratives.
- A proactive approach to ownership and integrity in delivering results, empowering others as needed.
- Ability to navigate complex situations and understand risks and appropriate control measures.
- Collaborative mindset to drive consistent performance and innovation from key supply partners through well-defined account plans.
