  • You will translate research and test data into predictive models for assessing commercial value and blast furnace performance during decarbonisation.
  • You will own R&D relationships and portfolios, managing vendors/partners, project plans, steering, and coaching researchers towards high-quality outcomes.
  • You will maintain close collaboration throughout the Sales and Marketing team, supporting the wider marketing strategy, mining operations, and steel customer requirements.
  • You will represent BHP's interests in industry bodies or associations.
  • You will monitor industry developments and technology changes in coke, iron, and steel making, assessing their impact on BHP's portfolio, markets, and customers, particularly in the trend towards decarbonisation.

About You

  • You have industry-recognised expertise in coke and iron-making, as well as the role of coal and raw material properties.
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree or higher, or at least 7 years' experience in a key technical discipline in/or closely related to coke and/or iron-making in the steel industry.
  • You have a deep understanding and direct experience of industrial and fundamental coke and ferrous R&D through academic and/or operations support.
  • You possess strong statistical modelling capabilities.
  • You are commercially-minded, with the ability to apply strategic thinking to solve complex problems and translate technical information into business outcomes for the Sales and Marketing team.
  • You have experience engaging effectively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at various organisational levels, including executives.
  • You have project planning and execution skills that enable effective identification, prioritization, and delivery of critical work through coordination of cross-discipline teams.

Compensation Package: The estimated annual salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 AUD, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
