MUFG Bank, Ltd., Singapore Office is seeking a highly skilled Oceania Risk Management Director to join our team in Singapore.

About the Role:

This is a senior leadership role within our Global Corporate and Investment Banking Division (GCIB), focusing on risk management for our Oceania loan portfolio. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing stressed and distressed credit risk management and restructuring in the Oceania market. They will be responsible for proactively identifying risk, setting and executing risk mitigation strategies, and collaborating with regional credit teams. This role requires a deep understanding of global banking regulatory environments, restructuring processes, and strong analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Critically review borrower forecasts and consider client-specific and sector risks for new loans at origination with heightened credit risk.
  • Formulate, negotiate, and implement risk mitigation strategies for existing stressed and distressed loans, maximizing recoveries through refinancing, restructuring, rehabilitation, or sale of loans or portfolios.
  • Monitor Early Warning Indicators (EWI) triggered for Oceania borrowers, working closely with relationship managers and credit partners to take proactive credit risk mitigation actions and enhanced monitoring.
  • Contribute to developing credit knowledge and training competencies of Relationship Managers in GCIB.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and limits while maintaining good working knowledge of global and regional industry trends, products, and laws.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in banking, advisory, or corporate finance with a focus on Oceania market stress and distressed credit risk management and restructuring.
  • Undergraduate Business / Commerce / Law Degree from a leading university.
  • Demonstrable experience in excellent client coverage and leadership.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to collaborate with other departments and across geographical locations.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role providing guidance and mentorship to a developing team.
