Patient Support Services Assistant Job Description

The role of a Patient Support Services Assistant is to provide exceptional service and assistance to patients, visitors, and clinical staff in a hospital environment.

Key responsibilities include assisting patients with menus and ordering meals, delivering main and mid-meal offerings to patients, interacting and communicating with patients, visitors, and clinical staff, assisting with the movement of patients at the request of the clinical team, and working in conjunction with other services to maintain cleaning standards and comply with Infection Control requirements.

This is an opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality patient care and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A Certificate III in Health Support Services/Health Service Assistant is essential, and previous experience working within a hospital or healthcare environment is highly valued.

  • Able to work a variety of shifts across a 7-day roster
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and demands
  • Strong working knowledge of Infection Control principles and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proactive attitude, a strong patient care focus, and the ability to work autonomously and without supervision to achieve responsibilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

For this role, we are looking for individuals who possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Health Support Services/Health Service Assistant
  • Previous experience working within a hospital or healthcare environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Infection Control principles and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work proactively and assist others in a team environment

The ideal candidate will also possess flexibility to work a variety of shifts across a 7-day roster, a proactive attitude, and a strong patient care focus.
