Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Electrical Project Engineer to join our team at Technical Resources. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing electrical engineering design and technical verification of project deliverables, ensuring timely resolution and closeout of safety hazards and risks.

About the Role
  • Perform and oversee engineering design and technical verification of discipline-specific project deliverables.
  • Identify and address safety hazards and risks associated with the asset lifecycle of designs; ensure timely resolution and closeout.
  • Deliver discipline-specific engineering services, including:
  1. Preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, drawings, and documentation.
  2. Conducting site visits as needed.
  3. Facilitating and participating in Safety in Design risk assessments, HAZIDs, HAZOPs, and design workshops.
  4. Managing and supervising engineering assignments across head office and Workshare teams.
  • Prepare electrical discipline estimates for requests for quotation, including:
  1. Scoping requirements.
  2. Detailing methodologies, assumptions, exclusions, and deliverables.
  3. Developing schedules aligned with project milestones and resource availability.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders, including Team Leads, Workshare teams, clients, and Project Engineers/Managers, regarding progress, budget, quality, and resource planning.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with installation contractors, subcontractors, vendors, site teams, and clients.
Project Lead Responsibilities (where applicable)
  • Manage engineering tasks to meet project schedules, including third-party contractor activities.
  • Act as the primary interface for discipline-specific engineering issues with customers.
  • Ensure technical integrity through design reviews and quality checks.
  • Provide direction and supervision for engineering and design activities.
  • Deliver high-quality, consistent design deliverables within schedule and budget constraints.
  • Coordinate design tasks, maintain deliverable lists, and manage discipline-specific resources.
  • Resolve technical issues and maintain accurate discipline records.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to align design efforts and facilitate squad checks.
What We're Looking For
  • A 4-year Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Australian-recognized).
  • Extensive consultancy experience as a professional engineer, with significant exposure to oil and gas refinery projects (Chevron experience preferred).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all engineering project phases, from conceptual through detailed design to execution.
  • Commitment to sustainable engineering principles throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Expertise in:
  1. Brownfield interfacing.
  2. HV/LV systems, AC/DC systems, and power distribution.
  3. Electrical calculations, including load flow, fault level voltage, motor starting analysis, and protection coordination.
  4. Earthing, arc flash, lightning studies, and related designs.
  5. Preparing SLDs, schematics, terminations, schedules, and layouts.
  6. Site scoping, condition assessments, construction, and commissioning.
  7. Addressing constructability, maintainability, and operability challenges.
  8. Equipment inspections, FATs/SATs, ITPs, MTOs, datasheets, specifications, and construction methodologies.
  9. Estimating electrical execution schedules and costs for FID.
  10. Control system interfacing, instrumentation, and shutdown planning.
  • Strong technical and practical experience in leading multi-disciplinary projects and teams in similar industries.
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and manage schedules and budgets.
  • Highly effective communication skills, including clear writing and technical document preparation.
  • Deep understanding of local and international standards, statutory, and regulatory requirements.

This is a full-time position offering an estimated salary of $120,000 - $180,000 AUD per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. If you have the required skills and experience, please submit your application.
