Job Title: Dairy Herd Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive milk production strategies, overseeing daily milking shed operations.
  • Collaborate with the team to design and implement reproductive programs, including artificial insemination and herd fertility management techniques.
  • Support controlled breeding experiments to enhance livestock genetics.
  • Implement best practices for calving procedures, conducting internal assessments to minimize stillbirths or injuries.
  • Plan and manage pastures and crops for optimal livestock production and develop feeding plans.
  • Analyze produce quality and set standards to maintain excellence.
Requirements:
  • AQF Certificate III in Agriculture/Dairy Production (or higher equivalent).
  • Three years of recent and relevant work experience.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Oversee animal health programs, handle sick animals, and maintain a healthy environment for livestock wellbeing.
  • Supervise work routines and staff performance.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance processes.
  • Operate milking plant and equipment safely.
  • Transport and store chemicals; prepare and apply chemicals as needed.
  • Identify and report equipment not operating normally.
  • Maintain accurate records for stock and inventory control.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety regulations.
