**Job Overview**

This role is responsible for designing and developing the Smart Apparel range in collaboration with cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will ensure that the collection is innovative, commercially viable, and aligned with the brand's vision and customer expectations.

The Designer - Smart ensures that the collection meets margin targets and enhances the brand's overall offering. By staying attuned to market trends, materials, and production techniques, this role drives the creation of distinctive, high-quality designs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the design and development of product ranges ensuring alignment with the brand vision, option plans, price points, and target margins.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the design and development process is aligned with broader business objectives and approved strategies.
  • Build strong partnerships with Merchandise Planning and Buying teams ensuring the range is balanced across core, seasonal, and special products.
  • Prepare and present detailed design briefs, seasonal ranges, and creative concepts to senior management in partnership with the Head of Design.
  • Oversee the end-to-end design process ensuring company timetables are met from initial concept development to pre-production sampling.
  • Ensure that the range is commercially viable appealing to the target customer while balancing creativity with functionality and wearability.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Design interact with store teams to present the final range discussing key looks, trends, and how they align with the overall product assortment.

Key Capabilities:

  • Experience in a Design role demonstrating the ability to develop commercially successful collections.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver collections on time and within financial targets.
  • Skilled in Adobe Illustrator and other design tools.
  • Strong understanding of global fashion trends materials, and innovations in the market.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey design concepts and work collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to problem-solving by resolving design and production challenges ensuring smooth progress throughout the development process.
