Senior Software Development Engineer, Network Health Systems

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join the Network Health Engineering team in Sydney.

This team is responsible for developing and maintaining the platform that determines the health of AWS's global network, providing critical information to core network systems.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Software Development Engineer who can lead and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring the right development practices are followed.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with experience in leading design or architecture of new and existing systems, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading development of best-in-class software systems for automating Amazon's network
  • Working with the engineering team to manage day-to-day development activities, including architecture decisions, design review, code review, and implementation
  • Communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Participating in the broader team that shapes the future of Amazon's Network
  • Creating and reviewing documentation and process regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Sydney, NSW, AUS.

Requirements include:

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
