About the Role

At McNab, we are seeking a highly skilled Construction Safety Expert to partner with our construction and department managers in ensuring the implementation of our "Safety First" culture and leadership standards across all projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Drive safety leadership with the site team to ensure everyone understands, believes, and connects with safety on a personal level.
  • Work with the project team to identify and implement strategies that promote safe work practices among subcontractors and direct workers.
  • Take ownership of developing technical and safety leadership skills through training and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the HSE Advisor to provide education, support, and advice to help them fulfill their role responsibilities.
  • Share knowledge, learnings, priorities, current exposures, and risks with other HSE Business Partners and the McNab group to support an informed and knowledgeable outcome.
  • Proactively identify potential issues through early engagement in operational planning, walking sites, high-risk planning, relationships, meeting participation, etc., and collaborate with the PM and SM to mitigate risks.
  • Build productive relationships with subcontractors to educate and hold them accountable for safety expectations.

About You

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual who genuinely cares about safety and leads by example. As a Construction Safety Expert, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS or a related field.
  • Strong experience as a health and safety professional on commercial construction sites.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • A willingness to be routinely visible on site.
  • Team-oriented, supporting and working with your team.
  • A proven track record of influencing diverse groups of people.
  • In addition to the above requirements, you must have a minimum qualification of a Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety or similar, which will enable you to maintain and lead the overall safety management of your projects.
