Tree Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Tree Investigations Officer to join our Operations department on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is critical in supporting our tree management team in investigating issues of illegal vandalism and non-compliance in relation to trees throughout the Strathfield Local Government Area.
About the RoleThe purpose of this position is to assist in achieving the goal of retention and protection of public and private trees throughout the Local Government Area and maximise the environmental, social and economic value provided by the urban forest to the community.
Key Responsibilities- Support the tree management team in investigating issues of illegal vandalism and non-compliance in relation to trees;
- Assist in achieving the goal of retention and protection of public and private trees;
- Maximise the environmental, social and economic value provided by the urban forest to the community.
- Prior experience in compliance regulatory and/or enforcement roles;
- Qualification in Certificate IV - Government Investigations;
- Good understanding of Trees and Tree Management and preferably qualifications in Arboriculture (AQF5) or related fields such as Environmental Science, Conservation;
- Good understanding and knowledge of the relevant regulations such as the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Australian Standard for Protection of trees and development sites AS4970;
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with ability to prepare detailed reports and to deal with a diverse range of customers in a professional manner;
- Proven ability to work effectively as an individual or in a team environment;
- Demonstrated computer literacy in a wide range of computer software packages including Microsoft Office, Electronic Records Management etc.;
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to environmental protection and sustainability;
- Current NSW 'Class C' Driver Licence.
