Job Description

The Principal Manager, Strategic Asset Management will lead a dynamic and inclusive team to provide high-quality services supporting Maritime Safety Queensland's objectives. This role includes leading strategic asset management and investment functions, providing expert advice, and managing the Maritime Infrastructure Investment Program.

This position involves overseeing the development of long-term plans for maintaining, upgrading, and expanding maritime infrastructure assets. You will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that investment decisions are informed by rigorous data analysis, risk assessments, and stakeholder consultation.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, strategies, guidelines, and procedures related to branch asset management. Additionally, you will play a key role in establishing information systems for managing MSQ's assets, ensuring seamless integration and effective use of technology.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated high-level knowledge and expertise in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Proven ability to lead strategic asset management functions across diverse operational asset bases, leveraging technical expertise to drive business outcomes.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to develop and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with experience working collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to build enduring relationships and negotiate effectively with external partners.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the strategic asset management and investment functions for MSQ, providing expert advice and services to support business objectives.
  2. Manage the Maritime Infrastructure Investment Program within the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  3. Develop and implement asset management policies, strategies, guidelines, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and community groups.
