Senior Accounts Payable Officer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Officer to join our team in Brisbane's Southside. As a key member of our AP team, you will be responsible for providing end-to-end AP support, mentoring team members, and optimizing processes, systems, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Manage supplier payments, including EFT, BPAY, and Direct Debits.
- Oversee AP and invoice mailboxes, resolving pending or disputed invoices.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments.
- Maintain data integrity and verify expenditure approvals as per policies.
- Coordinate with Procurement for supplier setup and lead vendor management.
- Prepare weekly cash forecasts, review supplier statements, and assist with month-end reporting.
- Liaise with the Financial Systems Support team to resolve data issues and complete month-end processes.
- Review current AP processes and recommend and implement changes to increase efficiency.
- Mentor junior staff, support team development, and provide backup for AP Officers and the AP Manager during absences.
- 5+ years of Accounts Payable experience.
- Experience in high-volume environments, ideally within shared services models.
- Strong transactional knowledge of full AP processes and accounting concepts (e.g., GST, GL coding).
- Proficiency with large ERP accounting systems; experience with SAP and Basware is highly desirable, along with advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to support and mentor team members to build a high-performing team.
- A focus on continuous process improvement and problem-solving.
