About the Role

As a Metalsmith with the Australian Defence Force, you will be part of a highly skilled team responsible for the maintenance and repair of complex equipment and vehicles. Your expertise in manual metal arc welding, metal inert gas, and other specialized welding techniques will be essential in ensuring the integrity and functionality of our assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialist welding tasks, including repairs and modifications to ferrous armour, structural steel, and homogenous armour.
  • Join, deform, and treat metals and composite materials, including fibre-reinforced plastics and graphite-reinforced plastics.
  • Fabricate, repair, modify, and reclaim equipment and components.
  • Conduct safety and technical inspections on specialist equipment and structural components.
  • Participate in general soldiering duties, such as manning defensive positions, patrolling, and navigation.
