About this role: We are seeking a dedicated Science educator to join our team from Term 4. You will be teaching Science to Years 7-10 and working alongside a collaborative staff committed to nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and student growth. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing a comprehensive science curriculum aligned with educational standards and guidelines, creating engaging and differentiated lesson plans, managing laboratory facilities and equipment, teaching students proper laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and ethical practices in scientific research, designing and administering assessments, tests, and experiments, and engaging in continuous professional development activities.

Key duties:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive science curriculum covering various disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, and environmental science.
  • Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Manage laboratory facilities and equipment, ensuring a safe and organised environment for conducting experiments and investigations.
  • Teach students proper laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and ethical practices in scientific research.
  • Design and administer assessments, tests, and experiments to evaluate students' understanding and mastery of scientific concepts and skills.
Required skills and qualifications:
  • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
  • Current/valid VIT registration (or in the application process)
  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Science in Australia/NZ
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years
  • Uphold the highest quality of child protection
