The primary role of the Lead Structural Engineer will be to oversee and support structural engineering initiatives across renewable energy projects and high-voltage substations.
Responsibilities and Duties:- Leads the structural engineering design for renewable energy systems and high-voltage power plants, encompassing foundations, steel, concrete support structures, platforms, enclosures, and balance-of-plant structures.
- Develops and reviews design calculations, specifications, drawings, and construction documents in accordance with industry standards and Australian regulations.
- Conducts structural analysis under static and dynamic loads, including wind and seismic forces.
- Provides technical guidance and mentorship to senior and junior engineers and designers.
- Conducts site inspections, structural assessments, and reviews during construction to ensure compliance with design and safety requirements or provides effective solutions.
- Collaborates with civil, electrical, and geotechnical teams on integrated project delivery for renewable energy and HV substations.
- Supports the project delivery team during the construction phase.
- Engages with permitting authorities, third-party reviewers, and independent engineers to ensure project approvals and compliance.
- Leads value engineering and constructability reviews to optimize designs and reduce costs without compromising quality or compliance.
- Participates in design reviews for renewable and HV power plant projects, evaluating progress, identifying potential issues, and implementing corrective actions to maintain design integrity.
- Identifies and develops project design solutions and required outputs across multiple bids and active projects as per contractual obligations.
- Manages work in accordance with agreed deadlines.
- Supports the development and application of quality systems.
- Contributes to the enhancement of project programs, including activities/tasks, durations, logic, and sequencing.
- Develops detailed and accurate Scope of Work documents, including key design deliverables for Design and Construct projects.
- Reviews and validates subconsultant outputs, including reports, calculations, and drawings.
