Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Enrolled Nurse to contribute to the highest standards of patient care and safety in our Central Sterilising Department.

About the Role:

We have multiple contracts available across Hospital & Health services in QLD, ranging from 4-12 weeks with potential to extended. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing cleaning, disinfection, and sterilisation of medical and surgical instruments according to established protocols and infection control standards.
  • Operating and maintaining sterilisation equipment, including autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
  • Inspecting, assembling, and packaging sterile supplies and instruments.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and tracking of sterilisation processes and equipment usage.
  • Adhering to infection control policies and procedures to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment.
  • Collaborating with clinical staff to ensure timely and efficient supply of sterile instruments.
  • Assisting with the training and orientation of new staff in sterilisation procedures and protocols.
  • Monitoring and reporting any issues with sterilisation equipment or procedures to the relevant supervisors.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety and hygiene standards.
Key Requirements:
  • Certificate III in Sterilisation.
  • Enrolled Nurse (EN) with current AHPRA registration.
  • Australian working rights.
  • Updated Australian Immunisation History.
  • National Police Check.
  • Previous experience in a central sterilising department or similar role is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of infection control and sterilisation practices.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
