Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Medical Officer to join our team at Clinical Excellence Queensland (CEQ). As a key member of our executive leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and medical guidance to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Partner with Chief Professional Officers to drive the implementation of strategic and operational initiatives.
- Provide medical workforce representation at the State and National level to engage and support medical workforce development.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Queensland Health strategic agenda.
- Champion and support research across Queensland Health as outlined in Queensland Advancing Health Research 2026.
- Remain up to date with the latest research findings and therapeutic interventions.
- Act as the Senior Responsible Officer under the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act.
- A degree in Medicine (MBBS or equivalent) from a registered tertiary institution.
- Fellowship of an Australian Medical Specialist College.
- Unrestricted General and Specialist registration as a medical officer with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Having an ongoing active clinical role will be highly regarded.
- A minimum of five (5) years senior healthcare leadership experience would be well regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical trials, including an understanding of and experience in translational research, with a sound knowledge of the conduct of clinical trials to International standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in the Australian context and the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research to promote responsible research practices and integrity in research would be advantageous.
- Previous experience in policy consultation, development, and implementation would be beneficial for this role.
