Strategic Service Design Director

Are you a seasoned design leader with expertise in strategic service design? We are seeking an exceptional individual to guide our team of 15+ designers and practice leaders in delivering business value across multiple products and services. As Head of Strategic Service Design, you will own the vision for how design contributes to our organization's success.
This key role will report to the Chief Design Officer and partner closely with other design leaders, product teams, and business stakeholders to drive our design strategy and elevate the service design practice. You will be responsible for managing the service design team's operations, ensuring design excellence, and shaping our design culture.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team
- Develop and evolve research and testing practices
- Represent design to senior leaders
- Support designer growth and development
Strategic Decision Making
- Contribute to defining what good looks like from a strategic and service design perspective
- Execute design strategy and champion best practice
Key Responsibilities
- Define the team's objectives and engagement with internal stakeholders
- Expertise in articulating and measuring design value
- Use system thinking to solve complex business problems
- Own the formulation of innovative solutions
To excel in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrable thought leadership in strategic design or service design
- Experience in business strategy, proof-of-concepts, and early-stage prototypes
- Ability to synthesise information and use tools and techniques to help others make sense of it
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to leading a team
- A user-focused design mentality and commitment to design excellence
