This position is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families with disabilities. As a Specialist Disability Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in building capacity, connecting, and accessing disability supports, and participating effectively in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Key Responsibilities- SUPPORT VULNERABLE FAMILIES: Provide case managed assistance to children and parents with disabilities, focusing on building their capacity, connecting them with disability supports, and facilitating effective participation in the NDIS.
- BUILD DISABILITY EXPERTISE: Develop and enhance disability and NDIS expertise across the Child and Family Services system.
- Navigate systems of disability support: Assist families in navigating systems of disability support, including the NDIS, disability advocates, service providers, and mainstream services.
- PROVIDE CASE CONSULTATIONS: Offer disability-related case consultations to the broader Child and Family Services system within the Mallee area, aiming to support practitioners in maximizing disability supports and improving outcomes available through the NDIS for families with disabilities.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Disability, Early Childhood Specialisation, or related behavioural sciences at degree level or associate diploma level, accompanied by substantial experience in the relevant service stream.
- A current driver's license and willingness to travel, with preparedness to be accommodated overnight when required.
