Community Education Counsellor

As an integral member of our school community, you will be responsible for providing educational counselling and support services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and students.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff members.

  • Develop and implement targeted support service programs to enhance the educational participation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and students.
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with out-of-school sources of information and support services to promote the advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and students.
  • Share knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander social and cultural perspectives with the school community through various initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and advice on state and commonwealth funded programs focusing on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and communities.
  • Advise administrators on matters related to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander social and cultural protocols to meet the needs of the school community.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Working with Children Clearance (blue card) is a mandatory requirement for this role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
