Exercise Physiologist Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Exercise Physiologist to provide day-to-day coordination and delivery of Exercise Medicine Services in our clinics. The successful candidate will guide patients with prescribed exercise programs as part of their cancer treatment.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute individualised exercise prescriptions for patients based on their medical history and personal characteristics.
  • Maintain detailed records and communicate effectively with relevant clinicians.
  • Oversee the physical space of the exercise clinic and ensure a safe environment for patients.
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care that promotes engagement in exercise during treatment and beyond.
  • Demonstrate empathy and understanding regarding the benefits and barriers to exercise during and after cancer treatment.
  • Provide follow-up information to patients, answering questions and alleviating concerns where appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology with ESSA Accreditation.
  • CPR & Current First Aid certification.
  • Previous experience in exercise oncology (desirable).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developing appropriate exercise programs for diverse populations.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, particularly when working with health professionals.
  • Demonstrated understanding of principles of behaviour change and ability to utilise those principles to promote exercise participation.
