About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced leader to head our Health Education Team, driving high-quality support and promoting harm reduction principles.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead a diverse team of Health Education Officers, ensuring they have the skills and resources to deliver safe and effective support.
  • Foster a workplace culture that is inclusive, respectful, and grounded in harm reduction principles.
  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team to translate strategy into action, including planning, budgeting, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide frontline leadership by modelling best-practice responses to consumer presentations, including drug overdose management in collaboration with the clinical team.
  • Deliver training and education in harm reduction practice, supporting capability-building across our service.
  • Oversee staffing within allocated budgets and in accordance with relevant industrial agreements and policies.
  • Lead health promotion and project initiatives, strengthening engagement with First Nations peoples in service design and delivery.
  • Contribute to policy development, service evaluation, report writing, grant applications, and published articles.
  • Build effective internal and external stakeholder relationships to enhance outcomes for consumers and the community.

About You:

  • Proven experience leading teams in health, community services, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of harm reduction approaches and the issues impacting people who inject drugs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staffing, budgets, WHS, and compliance in a complex service environment.
  • Experience in responding to and managing behaviour escalations and/or assisting with medical emergencies, such as overdose.
  • Excellent communication, training, and facilitation skills, with the ability to inspire and empower staff.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to advocate for positive outcomes for vulnerable communities.
