Environmental Contaminants Advisor Role

This key role involves leading research efforts to identify, analyse, and assess the risks posed by environmental contaminants. You will design and implement sampling programs, interpret complex data, and provide evidence-based recommendations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Analyse scientific data to advance the understanding of environmental contaminants.
  • Stay updated on emerging contaminants such as microplastics, pharmaceuticals, and PFAS, and their potential impacts on human health, wildlife, and ecosystems.
  • Assess the risks posed by environmental contaminants using quantitative and qualitative risk assessment methodologies.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to integrate contaminant management strategies.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders including regulatory authorities, water utilities, and academic organisations.
Key Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Chemistry, Toxicology, or related fields.
  • Experience in environmental contamination research and field-based activities, especially in emerging contaminants.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Close contact with raw wastewater may require immunisation in accordance with relevant policies.
