About the Role

This permanent position functions much like a private law practice within the public sector, with high-quality client outcomes at its core.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor junior lawyers and paralegals to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality services.
  • Manage complex litigation files and advisory work in areas such as civil litigation, equity, trusts, and property law.
  • Represent the Department in Court and Tribunal proceedings several times each week.
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards, legislative requirements, and financial accountability.
  • Drive a positive workplace culture that is ethical, inclusive, and focused on high performance.
Key Requirements
  • Possession of a degree in Law or equivalent.
  • Admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland, eligible for a current practicing certificate and entry in the High Court Register of Practitioners.
  • At least 5 years' post-qualification experience in managing complex litigation files, advising on equity, trusts, and property law, and representing clients in Court and Tribunal proceedings.

We are seeking a solutions-focused lawyer who brings strong technical expertise across civil litigation, succession law, or elder/disability law.
