**Job Summary**

Matt's Patch is a family farm business based in the Northern Territory that grows and produces tropical fruits, such as Papaya, Banana, and Passionfruit. We supply local and interstate fruit distributors throughout the year.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Perform routine tasks in planting and producing crops, fruits, and vegetables.
  2. Prepare soil for planting crops and seedlings.
  3. Operate farm machines and equipment for cultivating and spraying fruit and vegetables.
  4. Properly use chemicals to control the growth of weeds and harmful insects.
  5. Use the irrigation water supply system for crop growth.
  6. Select, pick, and discard fruit and vegetables according to quality control.
  7. Grade, sort, bunch, and pack produce into containers and load onto trucks.
  8. Build trellises for climbing vegetables and vines.
  9. Maintain crops, fruits, and vegetables by weeding and pruning.
  10. Perform other duties as directed on the property.

Essential Requirements:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge in propagation, seeding, cutting, and potentially tissue culture.
  2. Demonstrate ability to use farm equipment, including tractors, quadbikes, trimmers, and small trucks.
  3. Demonstrate capable of physically hard work in hot humid conditions at an acceptable pace.
  4. Demonstrate ability to learn and work in multiple crops, seedlings, vines, and trees.
  5. Demonstrate ability to set up and maintain irrigation systems.
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of pest sprays and the ability to use spray equipment.
  7. Demonstrate at least 3 years of relevant farming experience.

Working Conditions:

The role requires working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with some evening shifts. Accommodation is available on site for a fee, or you can explore rental properties in the district.
