The Role

We are seeking an experienced Psychologist to provide psychological support services to individuals with substance use issues in our Immigration Detention Centre clinic. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering evidence-based psychological services through assessment, case formulation, and case management.
  • Triage referrals, conduct D&A assessments, and follow-up individuals with identified D&A issues.
  • Ensuring D&A protocols are followed and providing timely support to those deemed 'at risk.'
  • Providing high standards of psychological care through individual sessions or group therapy, administration of psychometric instruments, and self-report measures.
  • Preparing clinical reports for internal and external stakeholders as required.

Requirements

  • Full working rights in Australia and current general APHRA registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience and experience working with patients with substance use issues or in a D&A setting.
  • Experience in providing supportive and therapeutic counselling, and psychosocial interventions.
  • Skills in D&A assessment and intervention, motivational interviewing, contingency management, and MH risk assessment.
  • SMART Recovery facilitator – highly desirable or willingness to obtain.
  • Current First Aid/BLS certificate or willingness to obtain.
