Opportunity Overview

We seek a qualified or nearly qualified general insurance actuary with a minimum of 4 years of experience and a strong interest in leveraging technology within actuarial practices to become part of our Consulting Team. Located in a dynamic office environment, you will collaborate with a talented group of actuarial and software experts, bringing enthusiasm and contributing to a supportive and cooperative workplace. As a member of the expanding global Dynamo team, your role will transcend borders, allowing for collaboration and learning from colleagues with diverse backgrounds and expertise.

This client-facing role entails taking significant responsibilities in projects across our local and international client base. We prioritize transformational projects over audit, validation, or regulatory tasks, ensuring that each engagement is unique and offers opportunities for growth and creativity. You will utilize your actuarial training and experience throughout various phases of the project lifecycle, including business development, procurement, project planning and management, model design and construction, and preparing and presenting deliverables to clients. You will also mentor and support the development of our analysts while ensuring the quality of outputs. By leveraging your experience with actuarial tools such as R, Python, SAS, or Excel, along with our onboarding and training program, you will gain proficiency in Psicle to enhance project delivery. Additionally, you will have the chance to contribute to internal initiatives such as our actuarial R&D program or team learning and development.

Essential Qualifications
  • Associate or Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in general insurance, with significant exposure to reserving highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in directly assisting internal or external clients to enhance processes.
  • Ability to blend core actuarial skills with innovative thinking to address challenges beyond your direct experience.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and improvement, demonstrating a proactive attitude and curiosity in your work.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable leading discussions and presenting to clients.
  • A collaborative mindset when working with colleagues and clients.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and dedication to delivering high-quality work products.
  • An understanding of how established and emerging technologies can benefit teams and organizations, evidenced through your studies or professional experience.
  • Experience in reviewing, guiding, and constructively discussing the work of other team members.
  • Able to effectively contribute in a cohesive team environment where no task is too large or too small.
  • Advanced skills in modeling, coding, and Excel.
  • Ongoing eligibility to work in Australia.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily project deliverables under the guidance of a Senior Manager.
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables by reviewing, challenging, and providing feedback on the work of others.
  • Guarantee timely completion of project deliverables.
  • Actively participate in internal and client meetings, presenting deliverables to clients.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff, inspiring them to reach their full potential.
  • Promote a collaborative and positive work atmosphere, encouraging teamwork and collective growth.
  • Collaborate with the software team to support the ongoing development of our innovative enterprise modeling platform.
  • Contribute to business strategy and development efforts.
  • Ensure adherence to professional obligations, including continuing professional development; actively engage in the profession by attending relevant events.
