Job Description:
The Lead Health Strategist will be responsible for leading a team of health professionals to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for individuals and families in remote communities. The role involves developing and implementing family health plans, working collaboratively with internal and external partners, and delivering health promotion programs on country and in community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement family health plans that meet the needs of individuals and families in remote communities
- Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to deliver health promotion programs and improve health and wellbeing outcomes
- Lead a team of health professionals to achieve program objectives and improve health and wellbeing outcomes
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local First Nations people, government agencies, and healthcare providers
- Provide support and guidance to local First Nations people to navigate the public, not-for-profit, and private healthcare systems
- Oversee and coordinate infectious disease prevention and response work
- Participate in on-country and in-community early learning program delivery sessions by designing and leading health promotion activities targeted at children and adults
- Ensure documentation, policies, procedures, and systems are in place and compliant
- Monitor and report user data and information to meet the monitoring and evaluation needs of the Family Health & Wellbeing team
Required Skills and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have:
- Relevant degree/qualification or substantial equivalent work experience
- Significant experience and expertise in health promotion, program management, or a senior organisational position
- Understanding and/or experience working with First Nations communities and the strengths and key issues facing First Nation people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbally and written
- Strong relationship, networking, and communication skills - both verbal and written
- Strong people management skills and a collaborative worker
- Current driver's licence
- OCHRE card and national police clearance
