Key Role: Heavy Fabrication Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Fabrication Specialist to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting schedules and delivery times, planning work to ensure all equipment, tooling, and consumables are accounted for prior to commencing tasks, and completing time sheets ensuring job number and task identification is accurate for time reporting.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of inspection test plans (ITP) and work orders, and will be able to advise their supervisor when work has reached hold points for inspection. They will also be responsible for ensuring all completed welds comply with relevant qualified weld procedures and recording welder identification number on all areas welded.

Additional responsibilities include taking pre-, intermediate, and post-work photos as requested by Supervisor, ensuring fabrication work complies with allowable tolerances and equipment requirements, attending pre-start meetings prior to the start of shift, adhering to the Safety Management System by ensuring company compliance throughout all work activities, keeping the work area clean and tidy, filling out relevant site paperwork to client's requirements, and performing workshop inspections as allocated.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Trade Certification - Certificate III in Engineering Heavy Fabrication
  • AS1554.5 and AS1554.4 welding test in 3G and 4G positions - MMAW and FCAW
  • Minimum MR' class drivers' license
  • Forklift License, EWP License, Intermediate Riggers License, Dogging License, Working at Heights License, Confined spaces License, Competencies

A minimum of [X] years experience in the engineering and resource sector is required, with a strong technical knowledge of mobile plant repair processes and understanding of mobile equipment isolation points. Experience in the use of generator welders and associated wire feeders, setup and operation of thermal arc lancing process, and problem solving skills are highly desirable.
