Life Saving Medical Device Firmware Engineer

The role is a key contributor to the development and implementation of firmware systems for medical devices. This includes design, coding, unit testing, debugging, and optimization of embedded firmware.

  • Architect and develop new firmware systems from early design stages through production releases, maintenance, and expansions.
  • Lead technical teams in medical device firmware development.
  • Design, code, unit test, and debug applications in various software languages including C and C++ embedded programming for bare metal and/or RTOS.
  • Integrate firmware with embedded systems and peripherals.

Required Skills:

  • Strong technical skills in firmware engineering, including experience with C and/or C++ programming languages.
  • Experience with firmware integration, including experience with microcontrollers (e.g. ARM, PIC32), digital signal processors, and peripheral communication over SPI, I2C, UART, I2S, Single Wire Interfaces, I/O, and USB.
  • Experience with wireless communication technologies, including BLE, Wi-Fi, GNSS, and Cellular communication.
  • Ability to conduct code reviews, apply metrics for code quality, use secure coding standards, and participate in software verification activities.
  • Knowledge of application of UML, Systems Thinking, and state-of-the-art software development practices.
