Executive Manager, Data Governance and Risk

We're seeking an Executive Manager, Data Governance and Risk to join our Chief Data Office team at Westpac Group. As a strategic leader, you'll play a pivotal role in enhancing data governance, establishing robust data controls, and managing data-related risks.
Key Responsibilities:- CDE Management: Lead the onboarding and ongoing management of Critical Data Elements across the organization.
- Data Controls: Collaborate with Business Control and Monitoring teams to review data usage, data quality rules, and requirements, improving data controls through control recommendations.
- Data Risk Management: Serve as the key contact for assurance reviews by Line 2, Line 3, and external parties.
- Data Quality Rules: Design and implement robust data quality rules and standards to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of critical data.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in CDE management, representing the Business and Wealth Chief Data Office in group-wide forums relating to policy review and improvement opportunities on data management.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Data Platforms, business units, risk, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of data stewardship and ensure adherence to data management policies.
- Training & Awareness: Develop training programs to enhance understanding of data governance principles and practices across the organization.
- Extensive experience in data management operating at a similar role level, experience in data risk management, and knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in implementing data governance frameworks and data quality initiatives.
- Excellent leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering on time and within budget.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
