About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Indigenous Support Coordinator to join our Aftercare Services team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who have attempted suicide and their families.

As a Support Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing non-clinical care and individualized practical support to consumers and their families. You will work closely with our team to develop safety and support plans, and provide support in the first three months following a suicide attempt.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with Indigenous communities and has experience in mental health and community services. You will have a strong understanding of recovery principles and strengths-based approaches, and be able to effectively interact with people from diverse backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide non-clinical care and individualized practical support to consumers and their families
  • Develop safety and support plans with consumers and their families
  • Work closely with our team to provide support in the first three months following a suicide attempt
  • Engage with and deliver safe and effective services to vulnerable groups
Requirements
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background
  • Relevant qualifications or commensurate experience in mental health or community services
  • Experience working with people bereaved through suicide or dealing with severe personal trauma
  • Understanding of recovery principles and/or strengths-based approaches
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Satisfactory Police Records Check
  • Blue Card - Working with Children Check
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Module - Quality Safety and You
  • Right to Work within Australia
