Infrastructure Maintenance Specialist

Aurizon Bulk Central is seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Maintenance Specialist to join their Infrastructure Management team.

This role offers an exciting challenge, with over 3000km of railway networks under management maintained from key depot locations at Darwin, Alice Springs, Adelaide, Thevenard, Whyalla and Port Augusta.

The successful candidate will lead the Asset Management of Railway Infrastructure throughout Aurizon Bulk Central rail networks within South Australia and Northern Territory.

The role will involve travelling throughout the networks to assess the condition, defects, failure modes and requirements of the assets, and working alongside other Engineers to strategize and prioritize infrastructure maintenance and renewals/replacements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Civil Engineering, Construction, Maintenance and/or Asset Management, with the ability to apply their expertise practically in an operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Organize and plan the technical aspects of civil projects, including the design and preparation of user requirement specifications, material and component specifications, safety in design requirements for new and altered works.
  2. Check and audit civil systems submitted by external providers.
  3. Organize and prepare associated documentation, including user requirements, system requirements, installation procedures, verification and validation, testing and commissioning, asset handover, type approval, maintenance procedures for qualification systems.
  4. Ensure that civil designs produced conform to business and industry best practice.
  5. Identify requirements for new processes and standards, and contribute to the production and implementation of new standards, specifications and work practices.

About You:

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and 3-5+ years' technical experience in a relevant field. They will have substantial skill in the development of technical, design, construction and maintenance engineering solutions, and the application of new technology and techniques.

They will also have high-level skills in communication, planning and undertaking professional work without direct supervision, and in exercising initiative in the application of professional practices and taking responsibility for project deliverables.

They will be able to develop and implement standards and procedures for engineering systems and networks, and check engineering systems and designs, including resolving problems to improve overall performance.
