Our organization is seeking a visionary Chief Actuary to lead the establishment of our internal actuarial capability. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of actuarial services within a government regulator that oversees critical personal injury schemes.

Role Overview
  • Lead the design and delivery of a hybrid actuarial services model to integrate external expertise with an in-house team.
  • Advise executive leadership on strategic direction, capabilities, and resources required for actuarial services.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer from external consultants to the new internal team, ensuring continuity and an uplift in scheme expertise.
  • Develop and implement actuarial models and methodologies to support regulatory decision-making.
  • Provide advice on potential risks to personal injury schemes regulated by the department.
  • Mentor and develop capability across the department, fostering a culture of collaboration and development.
Key Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in actuarial science with a professional qualification from the Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries Australia (FIAA).
  • Extensive experience in personal injury insurance schemes is preferable.
  • A proven track record in establishing actuarial functions and uplifting capability within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at executive levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to a wide range of audiences.
  • Adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments, with a commitment to staying current with industry trends, legislation, and regulatory changes.
