About the Role

The ideal candidate will be a skilled and experienced watchmaker responsible for the servicing of high-quality mechanical timepieces. This includes disassembling and fault finding mechanical movements, performing balance wheel poising and adjusting, hairspring and gear train adjustments, and regulating the movement to achieve chronometer precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and inspect mechanical movements to identify any defects or areas for improvement
  • Perform balance wheel poising and adjusting, hairspring and gear train adjustments to optimize the movement's performance
  • Regulate the movement to achieve chronometer precision by tweaking the escapement and adjusting the oscillating balance wheel
  • Place the mechanism in a demagnetizing machine to remove any magnetic properties
  • Check and regulate the timing of the mechanical movement to ensure accurate rate, amplitude, beat error, and power reserve
  • Maintain tooling and equipment provided, and inform management of any maintenance requirements in a timely manner

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A qualified watchmaking apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in servicing precision mechanical timepieces, including standard and chronograph watches
  • Ability to service timepieces to the precision criteria established by Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) and/or COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute - ISO 3159)
  • Excellent organizational skills and methodology
  • Basic computer skills for parts identification and technical documentation
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work towards targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
