We are seeking an experienced Underground Auto Electrician to join our Perenti Group team in Africa.

As a specialist underground contract mining services business, we operate across the continent, combining a world-class workforce with an extensive fleet of underground mining equipment.

The role requires someone who can ensure the local workers develop their skills and knowledge by sharing experience and being a role model. The successful candidate will have boundless energy, resilience, determination, and a genuine interest in working with people from different cultures.

Job Description:
  • Carry out scheduled servicing to mobile equipment in a safe manner and in accordance with procedures, regulations, and the service sheet.
  • Utilise skill and experience to create minimum downtime on machinery.
  • Ensure correct recording and reporting of maintenance is achieved.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping in workshop and working areas at all times, ensure all parts are kept at minimum stock levels.
  • Read and interpret Service and Spare parts manuals.
  • Report all equipment faults to the Maintenance Foreman for scheduling into the workshop weekly.
Requirements:
  • A demonstrated passion for safety and a proactive attitude toward ensuring that safety is front of mind for all employees at all times.
  • A sound knowledge on Sandvik U/G Development/Production Drills and Loaders
  • Experience on Caterpillar Underground Loaders
  • Proven knowledge on remote control systems either RCT or Sandvik.
  • Experienced in training less qualified tradespeople to a high standard in a high productivity underground contracting mining environment.
  • Strong background working with latest generation underground mobile equipment and associated automation systems.
  • At least 5 years post apprenticeship experience working within surface or underground mining industry on large mobile equipment.
  • Self-starter who will work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
  • International Driver's License.

Your salary will be highly competitive, ranging between $80,000 and $120,000 per year, depending on your experience and qualifications.

A full pre-employment medical is required, including a drug and alcohol test, and site-specific clearances. A National Police Clearance and any necessary tickets or qualifications are required to be presented at time of interview.
