In this role, you will support and execute our active ownership activities, contributing to sector and industry-specific research and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Engagement and Voting

  • Lead engagement with companies on governance and sustainability topics, identifying and setting objectives for relevant issues.
  • Conduct thorough company research, monitoring progress towards engagement milestones and maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to produce timely research and marketing materials on corporate governance and sustainability.
  • Contribute to advancing the integration of our stewardship program and investment decision-making processes.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for firms wishing to meet on governance and sustainability issues.
  • Analyse shareholder meeting agendas and related materials to ensure votes are submitted accurately.
  • Support the Proxy Committee by providing research and recommendations on industry trends.

Clients

  • Support the Australian institutional and wealth management businesses by attending client meetings and responding to RFPs.
  • Contribute to newsletters and other external facing mediums with case studies and market analysis.
  • Contribute to our annual stewardship report and support corporate level reporting.

Internal/External Partnering

  • Identify and participate in industry events, networking opportunities, and educational forums.
  • Monitor global regulatory developments and engage with relevant industry bodies.
  • Contribute to responses to public policy consultations.
  • Support internal partner education on stewardship and engagement topics.

Requirements:

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong understanding of corporate governance and sustainability issues.
  • Ability to interpret and explain complex business and financial topics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to ingest information from multiple sources and demonstrate sound judgment.

Experience

  • At least five years' experience in a relevant or complementary field.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Certification in ESG matters useful.
  • Prior experience in corporate governance or sustainability.
  • Fundamental investment research experience useful.
