Job Description\

As an Allied Health Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality clinical services to clients in Residential Aged Care settings. Your primary responsibility will be to work under the guidance of physiotherapists and occupational therapists to provide exceptional care and support.

You will be involved in a innovative approach to allied health services, leveraging our award-winning Plena Care Pathway. This program enables therapists to tailor therapy programs for residents, focusing on resident goals and priorities, and delivering evidence-based mobility and functional programs, care plan reviews, one-to-one therapy interventions, and group-based active aging services.

Key aspects of your role include:

  • Assisting in the delivery of all physiotherapy services in accordance with operating procedures and policies.
  • Providing RAC client services in line with the Allied Health Professionals treatment plan.
  • Transporting residents to and from therapy sessions or appointments under the direction of physiotherapists/occupational therapists.
  • Setting up and packing away the physiotherapy gym, including cleaning equipment and areas.
  • Collecting referrals and performing administrative tasks as guided by physiotherapists.
  • Ordering prescribed equipment.
  • Leading exercise groups and programs.
  • Supporting initiatives to meet client and contract expectations.
  • Collaborating with physiotherapists/occupational therapists on adaptations, changes, or progressions of treatment plans for clients.
  • Participating in mentoring, supervision, and appraisals in line with organizational policy and procedure.
