Reliable transportation is crucial for accessing healthcare services. The Patient Transport Volunteer role supports vulnerable individuals who lack regular transport to non-urgent health appointments, enabling them to achieve better health outcomes and maintain independence in their own homes.
Key Responsibilities- Operate vehicles to transport clients safely and efficiently.
- Provide a courteous and respectful transport experience.
- Assist with mobility aids and help clients board and disembark safely (lifting up to 15 kg).
- Engage in conversation and activities appropriate to the client or group.
- Respect clients' privacy, rights, and dignity, maintaining confidentiality when necessary.
- Utilise digital systems and adhere to established work practices relevant to the program.
- Record timely and accurate documentation of interactions with clients.
By providing reliable transportation, volunteers remove a significant barrier to care, allowing clients to attend appointments that promote their health and independence. This service increases clients' confidence in managing their health and enables them to stay living safely in their own homes.
Requirements- A current full Australian driver's licence and an excellent driving record.
- Statutory Declaration required if you have been a citizen or permanent resident of a country other than Australia after turning 16 years of age.
