Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Officer (External) to join our team at the University of New South Wales. In this role, you will be responsible for promoting UNSW's research, achievements, and events to external media and stakeholders, as well as internal audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic communications plans to promote UNSW's reputation and brand.
- Create and share engaging press releases, media statements, and other external communications materials.
- Liaise with media outlets to secure interviews and feature stories about UNSW's research, achievements, and events.
- Assist with media training for UNSW staff and develop their communication skills.
- Provide expert advice on media relations, crisis communications, and reputation management.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least 5 years' experience in media and communications, preferably in an academic or research environment.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories and messages.
- Experience working with media, either as a journalist or in a public relations capacity.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and their role in communications strategy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
