Job Title: Chef - Parental Leave Cover

 

We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a fixed term position to cover parental leave for 6 months.

The purpose of this role is to prepare high quality, nutritious meals that meet dietary requirements. You will be working within a team of catering staff and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation:
  • Clean cooking areas and equipment
  • Maintain safe food hygiene practices
  • Manage resources – includes ordering and stock control
  • Manage staff – supervision and delegation as required
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational, Safety and Health requirements
  • Act in accordance with the continuous improvement of the facility, engaging with residents and attendance at facility based resident meetings

 

Key Requirements:

  • Trade certificate / Cert 3 or equivalent qualification – desired
  • Experience in commercial cooking environment and/or aged care catering – essential
  • Current knowledge of Food Safe Plus practices and Hygiene standards, quality system requirements & the principles of relevant aged & resident care legislation
  • Knowledge of dietary nutrition for the aged
  • Understanding of infection control
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
