Job Description

Pannu Co Pty Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Heavy Truck Driver/Transport Manager/Fabricator. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods and materials, as well as maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transportation: Drive heavy trucks with a capacity of more than 3 tons to transport and deliver cargo or materials, working in remote locations and driving long distances as necessary.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct daily pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles to maintain working operations, record any defects found, and perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning and refitting.
  • Load Restraint: Ensure load restraint is performed as per heavy vehicle load restraint guide, and secure proof of deliveries and return relevant paperwork to the office in a timely manner.
  • Communication: Maintain radio or telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to new locations, and be efficient in completing necessary delivery paperwork including run sheets and work diaries.
  • Logistics: Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking, and keep a log of activities, materials, and products transported.
  • Quality Control: Conduct inspections to ensure vehicle accessories and subassemblies work properly, and identify malfunctions and implement plans to repair or replace them.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: AQF Certificate II or III, valid Australian MC truck licence, and minimum of 1 year's recent heavy/multi-combination driving experience.
  • Skills: Sound geographic knowledge Australia-wide, highly reliable with a first-class approach to safety and customer service, good communication skills, and ability to pass a drug and alcohol and pre-employment medical.
  • Certifications: Fatigue Management Certificate, MSIC Card, Load Restraint Certificate, and DG Licence.
Transport Manager:
  • Organizational: Organize the purchase/lease of vehicles, parts, and fuel, and ensure regular road-worthy and safety audits on vehicles and equipment.
  • Financial: Monitor and report on transport and transportation costs, and make necessary changes to reduce costs and improve the business's bottom line.
  • Training: Organize training sessions for employees on proper licensing/permits, driving vehicles of various types and sizes, and proper use of lifting/moving devices associated with vehicles.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with safety regulations and train staff to adhere to them when handling or driving vehicles.
Fabricator:
  • Technical: Apply knowledge of metal fitting to install, inspect, and maintain various accessories and subassemblies to heavy vehicles, including bull bars, suspension systems, roof racks, winches, lifting equipment, cranes, and more.
  • Design: Review dimensions and designs from diagrams, blueprints, and sketches, and use grinding and sawing tools to manipulate and attach accessories and subassemblies into the desired shapes for secure fitting/fastening to heavy vehicles.
  • Quality Control: Conduct inspections to ensure vehicle accessories and subassemblies work properly, and identify malfunctions and implement plans to repair or replace them.
